Orchid is a 2026 creative project designed and photographed by Lydia Taylor, the artist behind Cypress Craftworks. The intention of these pages is a celebration of communal joy against the backdrop of rising American fascism & cheerful resistance against the structures and words that bind us. Produced locally in North Carolina.
Participants in an open call were asked to answer a questionnaire about their lived experience with disability, queerness, marginalization and community. All answers were submitted anonymously and used in the text portions of the project. Many thanks to these anonymous friends who trusted us with their pain and joy alike.
Models represent a wide spectrum of identity in queerness as well as mental and physical disabilities. This publication is accompanied by efforts with organizations such as FeedNC and the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. A portion of proceeds will go directly to these causes.
